Secretary In-charge Vinod Sharma took over the office responsibility of Director General Information on Thursday. Shri Sharma took over the charge of Director General of Information at Information and Public Relations Directorate, Rajpur Road. Shri Sharma is looking after the responsibilities of Secretary In-charge Home, Sugarcane-Sugar, Planning and Agriculture Education apart from the office responsibility of Director General of Information.
Shri Sharma took over the charge of Director General of Information fourth time. Prior to this, he had taken over the charge of Additional Secretary and Director General of Information Department in 2007, 2011 and 2013 respectively.
Shri Sharma is an IAS officer of UP cadre and prior to bifurcation of the Uttarakhand State he had been SDM of Mussorrie, Chief Manager Sugar Mill Doiwalan and ADM Administration/Finance Dehradun. After the bifurcation of the Uttarakhand Shri Sharma was posted on the important offices like Additional Secretary Transport, Civil Aviation, Co-operative, Sugarcane-Sugar, Science and Technology. Apart from these Shri Sharma had been Inspector General of Prison, Additional Secretary Prison, Secretary Sugarcane development and sugar industries, Secretary Language and Reconstitution and Secretary Home.
After taking over the charge of Director General Information Shri Sharma inspected the various sections of the department and directed the officials for speedy dissemination of public welfare schemes of government to common man as well as co-ordinate with all departments of the government and obtain the timely details of updated progress of ongoing schemes.
Shri Sharma emphasized to speed up the concerned schemes through departmental activities. A solid working plan to be prepared to make aware the common people about the public welfare schemes and important decisions taken by present government in public interest. For the purpose better co-ordination to be ensured with the print and electronic media. He stated that government is doing remarkable in many fields these achievements should be sprat out more actively. He emphasized that better and constructive dialogue to be established with media and grievances of media to be resolved speedily.
Representatives of various print and electronic media along with officials of various journalist unions met and congratulated the newly designated Director General Information.
